Security Expert Urges Ghanaians to Stay Vigilant Ahead of Christmas Festivities
Security expert Andrews Tetteh Asiedu has urged Ghanaians to take their personal safety seriously and remain vigilant as the Christmas festive season approaches. Speaking in an interview with journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi following concerns surrounding the death of a phone dealer at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle Trotro Toll Lane, Mr. Asiedu called for increased public awareness and cooperation with security agencies. He noted that Ghana has recorded cases in the past involving the killing of individuals under circumstances reportedly linked to ritual purposes, stressing the need for citizens to be cautious about their movements and interactions. The security expert advised people travelling or visiting unfamiliar locations to inform trusted family members or friends about their whereabouts. He also called for increased security presence in communities including Teshie and other areas he considers potentially vulnerable, particularly during the busy Christmas period when movement and social activities typically increase. Mr. Asiedu further encouraged Ghanaians to adopt the principle of “See something, say something” by promptly reporting suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities. According to him, public cooperation and timely reporting can contribute to preventing crime and improving community safety. He also appealed to media houses to intensify public education on security and personal safety, suggesting that broadcasters dedicate regular airtime to educating the public on precautionary measures ahead of the Christmas festivities. Mr. Asiedu urged Ghanaians not to take their personal security for granted and encouraged communities to work closely with the security agencies to help maintain peace and safety during the festive season.
