NHYIRABA KWABENA ASIRIFI COMMENTS ON PRESIDENT MAHAMA’S REMARKS ABOUT DONALD TRUMP
President John Dramani Mahama has called for a national discussion on how Ghana should regulate TikTok and other new media platforms while protecting freedom of expression.
Speaking during a town-hall meeting with Ghanaians in New York on September 25, 2026, President Mahama used the United States as an example. He said that if someone used TikTok to threaten U.S.
President Donald Trump with an assassination attempt or an attack on the White House, the authorities would take the threat seriously.
President Mahama also said he does not personally mind being insulted, but expressed concern about some arrests linked to social-media content. He called for Ghanaians and relevant stakeholders to decide whether and how new media should be regulated.
