DIANA NYONKOPAH DANIELS CHALLENGES IRENE OPARE OVER COMMENTS ON NDC PARTY SUPPORTERS
President of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Diana Nyonkopah Daniels, has criticised comments attributed to Irene Opare concerning members and supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). Madam Daniels recalled the period when the NDC was in opposition, saying she and other party members and supporters actively participated in meetings and activities aimed at strengthening the party. She questioned where some individuals were during those difficult periods when, according to her, party supporters made significant sacrifices for the NDC. Madam Daniels said some members who contributed to the party’s struggle are currently facing challenges and expressing concerns about their circumstances. She therefore appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to take note of the concerns of the party’s grassroots supporters and engage with them. She urged the President to pay attention to members who, according to her, stood by the NDC during its difficult years in opposition. Madam Daniels stressed that the sacrifices and contributions of grassroots supporters should be recognised as the party continues to govern. She also called for unity, fairness and greater engagement between the government and the party’s grassroots base.
