HISTORIAN AND LAWYER ANOKYE FRIMPONG CALLS FOR CHANGES TO THE FACES ON GHANA’S CEDI NOTES

Historian and Lawyer Mr. Anokye Frimpong has called for a review of the personalities whose portraits appear on Ghana’s cedi notes. According to him, politically, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the only one among those personalities who fought for Ghana’s independence. He acknowledged that the other individuals featured on the currency also made significant contributions to the development of the nation, but argued that their contributions were different from the struggle for independence. Mr. Anokye Frimpong therefore believes the faces appearing on Ghana’s cedi notes should be changed to better reflect the country’s history and the various contributions made during the independence struggle.
