ANOKYE FRIMPONG CALLS FOR CHANGE OF FACES ON CEDI NOTES, SAYS ONLY DR. KWAME NKRUMAH FOUGHT FOR GHANA’S INDEPENDENCE

Historian and Lawyer Anokye Frimpong has called for the faces displayed on Ghana’s cedi notes to be changed. According to him, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the only one among the personalities featured who directly fought for Ghana’s independence, while the others contributed to the country’s development in different ways. Anokye Frimpong argued that the continued presence of the other personalities on the cedi notes is inappropriate and described it as a “curse.” He therefore called for a reconsideration of the personalities whose images appear on Ghana’s currency, particularly in relation to their historical contributions to the country’s independence struggle.
