FINANCIAL DISCIPLINE: TAKYI ADDO CREDITS MAHAMA ADMINISTRATION AND KEY ECONOMIC INSTITUTIONS
The Public Relations Officer of the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, Mr. Benjamin Takyi Addo, has commended what he describes as efforts by the Mahama administration to promote financial discipline and strengthen Ghana’s economy. Speaking on the issue, Mr. Takyi Addo mentioned Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi, the Bank of Ghana and the Ghana Revenue Authority as institutions and officials whose activities, in his view, are contributing to economic management. His comments come at a time when government has been emphasizing fiscal responsibility and economic transformation. The President recently inaugurated an Independent Fiscal Council, whose mandate includes promoting fiscal discipline, long-term debt sustainability and credibility in public financial management. Mr. Takyi Addo said he believes credit for the government's direction should also go to the Chief of Staff, Dr. Julius Debrah, whom he described as playing an important role in coordinating the administration. Dr. Debrah has publicly emphasized integrity, accountability and shared responsibility as important principles for Ghana's national development. Mr. Takyi Addo further urged Ghanaians to pay attention to the country's economic management and support measures aimed at strengthening public finances and creating sustainable economic growth. The views expressed by Mr. Takyi Addo represent his assessment of the administration's economic performance.
