AMA SEY ENDORSES HAWA KOOMSON FOR NPP NATIONAL WOMEN’S ORGANISER

Former Akwatia Member of Parliament, Hon. Ama Sey, has expressed support for former Awutu Senya East MP, Mavis Hawa Koomson, in the ongoing contest for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Women’s Organiser position. According to Hon. Ama Sey, she was surprised to see other candidates contesting Hawa Koomson for the position, with some questioning her suitability because she previously served as a Member of Parliament. The NPP’s National Women’s Organiser election is scheduled for October 3, 2026, with Hawa Koomson and incumbent Deputy National Women’s Organiser Hajia Safia Mohammed as the two candidates currently on the ballot. Hawa Koomson, a former MP and Fisheries Minister, formally filed her nomination for the position in August 2026. “The NPP National Women’s Organizer position should go to Hawa Koomson. I was surprised to see others competing with Hawa Koomson for the position, with some arguing that she was a Member of Parliament and citing other reasons.” — Hon. Ama Sey, Former Akwatia MP
