AKIM ODA MP: “MAHAMA SHOULD CLARIFY HIS EARLIER STATEMENT ON GALAMSEY”
Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Hon. Akwasi Acquah, is demanding clarification from President John Dramani Mahama over comments concerning the possibility of declaring a state of emergency to address galamsey.
Hon. Acquah says the President’s current explanation raises questions about his earlier position, particularly his reference to declaring a state of emergency if the galamsey situation became serious.
He questioned whether the President considers the current situation sufficiently serious, given concerns expressed by Ghanaians over the impact of illegal mining on the country’s water bodies and environment.
The MP is therefore urging President Mahama to clarify his earlier statement and clearly outline his current position on the use of emergency measures in the fight against galamsey.
