TEENAGE PREGNANCIES: 53,415 CASES RECORDED BETWEEN JANUARY AND JULY 2026
Journalist Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi has raised concerns over the increasing cases of teenage pregnancy in Ghana.
He noted that 1,501 girls aged 10 to 14 were among the cases recorded between January and July 2026, while 53,415 pregnancies were recorded among girls aged 10 to 19.
Nhyiraba Kwabena Asirifi said parents must take greater responsibility for the wellbeing and guidance of their children.
He also identified poor living conditions as a major contributing factor to teenage pregnancies.
He is therefore calling for stronger parental guidance and collective efforts to protect young girls from teenage pregnancy.
