Ashanti Region, Ghana – Mr. Paul Yandoh, NPP Communications Director for the Ashanti Region, has defended Chairman Wontumi (Bernard Antwi Boasiako) against allegations that he was improperly appealing to President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on ICAD TV’s morning show Ghana Nti Today host Nana Nhyiraba Kwabena Asrifi, Mr. Yandoh said:
“Mahama is a good person but his subordinate. So if Chairman Wontumi begs him, it is nothing wrong.”
He explained that it is normal for citizens and leaders to appeal to the President for support, especially on issues affecting their communities and livelihoods.
Mr. Yandoh also highlighted that Chairman Wontumi qualifies to contest as National Chairman, but his assets have not been returned because his legal case is still ongoing.
“It is important for leaders like Chairman Wontumi to represent their people and raise issues directly with government. This is not only acceptable but necessary,” he added.
