BECE 2026 RESULTS: PTA CHAIRMAN CALLS ON WAEC TO EXPLAIN STUDENTS’ PERFORMANCE
The Eastern Regional PTA Chairman, Mr. Joshua Tekpernor, has called on the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) to provide a clear explanation of the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results, particularly concerns surrounding the performance of some candidates. According to Mr. Tekpernor, parents and guardians also have a responsibility to support students academically and help address challenges affecting their performance. He believes WAEC should engage the public and provide clarity on the factors that contributed to the results. His comments come amid concerns over students from schools including Obuasi Senior High Technical School (STHS), St. Mount Sinai Senior High School, and Okuapemman Senior High School, who are reportedly affected by the outcome of the placement process. Mr. Tekpernor appealed to affected students to remain calm, disciplined and focused while the relevant authorities address their concerns. He further encouraged parents, guardians, schools and education stakeholders to work together to find lasting solutions to challenges surrounding BECE performance and senior high school placement.
