SUMINAKESE RESIDENTS CLASH WITH POLICE AFTER TENANT ALLEGEDLY MURDERS 85-YEAR-OLD LANDLADY*
*Suminakese —* Tension has gripped Suminakese in the Kwahu East District of the Eastern Region following the alleged murder of an 85-year-old woman Ma'ame *Asatewaa popularly known as Disco or Ginie Ginie,* reportedly by her tenant.
The suspect, believed to be about 32 years old, has been arrested and is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
According to residents, the elderly woman Ma'ame Asatewaa, affectionately called Disco, who was the landlady of the suspect, was found dead under circumstances that have left the entire community in shock and disbelief after she went to the police to report the suspect that the police should come and rescue her from the hands of the wee smoker.
Information gathered indicates that the 32-year-old suspect Morrow allegedly used a pistol to hit the Disco till she gave up her last breath, and later dragged her body to a hidden place where no one could easily see her.
The motive for the alleged gruesome killing is yet to be established by the police.
The incident sparked outrage among residents, who thronged the scene demanding immediate justice for the deceased.
The situation reportedly escalated when some agitated youth confronted police officers who had arrived to secure the area and take the suspect into custody.
In the heat of the confrontation, the angry residents allegedly attacked the officers and vandalised a police pickup vehicle, causing a brief disturbance in the community.
The police subsequently managed to restore calm and conveyed the suspect to the station to assist with further investigations.
Calm has since returned to Suminakese, but residents remain in shock and are calling on authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and ensure justice is served for the late landlady.
