MCDAN YOUTH CONNECT EXPANDS COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AGENDA THROUGH SUPPORT FOR ZONGO WOMEN AND MUSLIM COMMUNITIES.
The McDan Youth Connect initiative has intensified its community empowerment drive following visits by businessman and philanthropist Daniel McKorley to Zongo communities in Kumasi and Techiman.

As part of efforts to strengthen social inclusion and economic support systems, the Executive Chairman of the McDan Group joined Muslim worshippers in Kumasi for Jummah prayers alongside the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam and other Islamic leaders.

The visit formed part of activities connected to the McDan Youth Connect Adventist Edition held in Techiman. During the engagement, special prayers were offered for Dr. McKorley and his team in recognition of their contribution to youth development and entrepreneurship empowerment across Ghana.

During the gathering, the Ashanti Regional Chief Imam appealed to Dr. McKorley to support the mosque with generators or a power plant to help address the impact of unstable electricity supply on the community.

The delegation later travelled to Techiman, where they met traditional authorities and members of the Zongo community in a private discussion centred on economic empowerment and community development.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman McKorley announced plans to introduce a zero-interest loan scheme aimed at supporting women within the community.

According to him, the initiative will provide financial assistance for women seeking to start trading businesses, while also helping existing entrepreneurs expand their operations.

Traditional leaders at the event expressed appreciation for the initiative and commended Dr. McKorley for his continued support for vulnerable communities and his commitment to creating economic opportunities for women and young people.

Many women present described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that it could significantly improve household incomes and promote sustainable livelihoods.

The visits have been widely regarded as another important step in positioning the McDan Youth Connect programme as a broader platform for entrepreneurship, social cohesion, and grassroots empowerment across Ghana.
